Today is the Tomorrow that You Worried About Yesterday (anonymous)
At the risk of dating myself, I was reminiscing the other day about how many Canadian recessions that I have experienced and survived so far since joining the wonderful world of gainful employment in the mid 1970's...
The number came to 5---1975-76, 1980-82, 1990-92, 2000-02 and here we are at 2008-?.......
It's interesting to note that the last four recessions start to rear their ugly heads every 8 years or so...
The three big lessons that I have learned from these "tough times" periods are:
1. We, as a society and collection of businesses, all have to be smarter, prioritize more and work harder...we need to keep delivering good work, regardless of its nature, provide good service and make ends meet with fewer resources
2.We need to better appreciate the good things we have--our family, friends and community at large---and now is the best time to review, re-tool and position ourselves for the recovery and better days to come...
3.We must tune out the Negative Media and other "doom and gloomers" as we go about achieving our goals each day...
So--let's keep our heads up and our eyes on a better future--it will be here before you know it!
